Hand-Painted Frames

Distinctive and Versatile Design:
These hand-painted designs can be used with mirrors, artwork and custom furniture pieces (headboards, tables etc) or wherever you would use a molding. The designs are transitional, and fit well with both traditional and contemporary art or environments. They may be reproduced in custom sizes and colors. We use the Farrow & Ball color chart for easy selection. We can also create custom designs for a single piece
or series. This website is helpful to select designs once you have seen samples, but to really view the unique texture and special finish on these pieces, we recommend setting up an appointment to see them in person or, if you are not local, we can send a sample of the design you like. You may contact the studio directly via email or phone. We can ship anywhere.

Each piece has an average of 8 to 10 layers of prep and finish, depending on the complexity of the design, and is finished off with a high quality hand-rubbed wax. The effect of each design is produced by a combination of textures and glazes. Many of the glazes are iridescent. Designs are completely sealed and protected. The frames are painted assembled (closed corner), which is a mark of distinction in the framing industry. There are several different profiles and the styles and widths are noted next to each design.

Materials:
The frames are made of hard wood, which is FSC certified (green) and the construction is high quality. If you are ordering a finished mirror, The glass used is 3/16 or 1/4 inch glass (choice of flat or beveled).

Cost:
The price of the frame is determined by the width of the wood, the overall size of the finished piece, and the complexity of the design. Designers may request an estimate by specifying the collection,
design, and size (outside or inside dimensions–OD or ID). Framers may request a price list (pdf) of the linear foot cost for each design. The turnaround time is typically 4-6 weeks (closer to 4 for empty frames).
